Position: Lifeguards


The YMCA is seeking lifeguards for morning, mid-day and evening shifts, including weekday and weekend. The lifeguard is responsible for ensuring every swimmer' safety in the pool. Lifeguard must be a good swimmer, have high sense of responsibility, be alert and conscientious.


•    Be Responsible for the guarding and safety of members and program participants within all aquatic facilities.
•    Be responsible for the pool until relieved by another guard.
•    Quick action to any potential emergency situation.
•    Use appropriate emergency procedures, and provide appropriate care to swimmers.
•    Attend National YMCA certification trainings, regular in-service trainings and other trainings and meetings as they are held.
•    Abide by the YMCA Aquatics Safety Code of Conduct.

YMCA Lifeguard Qualifications and Skills

•    The minimum age to work as a YMCA lifeguard is 18.
•    A recognized Lifeguard certification, CPR for Professional Rescuer (including AED) of YMCA, Red Cross, or others.
•    Administration on Oxygen.
•    Standard First Aid.
