Head Swim Coach

Job Description:  Under the direction of the Senior Program Director, the Swim Coach manages the swim team in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the YMCA of the USA. Provide direct leadership, instruction and motivation for swim team participants between the ages 6-18 years old. Attend all swim meet and team functions throughout the year as well as being responsible for creating and maintaining a safe environment for the participants.

Qualifications:

  • 2 or more year’s experience as a competitive swimmer (required)
  • 2 or more years coach experience (preferred)
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of swim skills in accordance with YMCA standards and have a strong foundation in stroke mechanics.
  • Enthusiastic, dynamic presence with good communication skill.
  • At least 21 years of age.

Essential Functions

  • Create thorough, age-appropriate workouts focusing on technique, endurance, stroke development, drills, etc.
  • Lead structured practices throughout all of the swimming seasons.
  • Track daily attendance.
  • Handle all administrative matters relating to the team, swim meet arrangements and team performance as well as interaction with parents.
  • Coordinate and execute swim teams competitions and meet registrations.
  • Record times at swim meets.
  • Responsible for setting up swim meets and working with parent committee in securing volunteers to run meets.
  • Ensure that there are sufficient supplies and equipment to conduct swim meets.

Requires Certifications

  • Principles of YMCA competitive Swim Certification (Must completed within 90 days of hire).
  • CPR/AED and First-Aid or willingness to obtain.

Salary: $22/hour part-time

Schedule: Year round program, Mondays through Fridays, 6:00PM to 7:30PM
