WHAT'S NEW AT THE NEW ROCHELLE YMCA

Hello Y Family,

Spring is here at the New Rochelle YMCA, and our members are getting excited for all that offers! With over 4000 members coming from New Rochelle, Pelham, Larchmont, Mount Vernon and the Bronx, our Y is committed to Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. Here are some highlights:

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT:
  • Swim lessons are in full swing as parents ready their children for water safety this summer. We serve all levels of swimmer from water discovery to stroke mechanics, including our great Sailfish Swim Team. Come in today to experience our great team of instructors and our many class choices. Adult learners welcome!
  • Youth basketball is also picking up as we all come out of our winter hibernation. Join the Junior NBA basketball development program. We also have youth programs for ballet, soccer and karate.
  • Our After School programs are having success in making sure our K-5 students are cared for during those critical hours after school dismissal. Our programs - one at Webster School and one at the Y - are organized to include homework time, physical play, and personal enrichment through smart games and the arts.
  • Summer Camp signups have started and YMCA Camp New Roc is excited about another great summer. We have close to 100 campers on site each week for nine weeks this summer. Included is a field trip once each week, breakfast and lunch, pool and gym time, and so much more. This year, we will be offering a specialty camp with a STEAM curriculum.
HEALTHY LIVING:
  • With 35 group exercise classes included with membership, the value of a YMCA membership is better than ever. Classes are included for every age group from Zumba to Body Blast, from Yoga to Group Cycling. Come see and join in!
  • Our state of the art Cardio Center and our Weight Room have won rave reviews from our members who prefer a personal exercise experience.
  • Two YMCA invented sports have great spaces to participate: Basketball in our gymnasium and Racquetball on our dedicated courts.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Our annual support campaign hit an all-time high in 2017, raising over $60,000 for program support and financial assistance. This year, we hope to add to that total with a Servant Leadership Event on May 17th. This event at the Pelham Country Club features good Y fellowship, a great dinner, inspiring award winners - all for a great cause. Tickets are $125 per person.
  • English as a Second Language and Citizenry classes are offered at the New Rochelle YMCA by our great team of volunteer instructors. Members attend with only a small fee for materials.
  • Volunteer opportunities are always available at the Y: from board and committee membership to reading to our preschoolers. Come in and be a part of something great for your community!
