Rich's Holiday Greeting

Members and Friends of the Y:

On behalf of the staff and volunteers of the New Rochelle YMCA, I wish you all the blessings of Thanksgiving and the upcoming Holidays. As our lives change and some traditions adapt to an ever-expanding network of family and friends, I hope you all have the benefit of sharing this time with important people in your life.

As we enter the Holiday Season at your YMCA, we have new traditions and old traditions in our mix of events and program offerings. Here are a few highlights from now and moving into January:

  • We had another great FRIENDS-GIVING at the Y on November 16th with over 50 folks joining us in a Pot Luck Dinner.

  • Close to 200 friends were present for the 2nd Annual Charity Basketball event on November 19th, thanks to our own Coach Lavar for his hard work in organizing. All the canned goods received will be donated to a local food pantry.

  • On Tuesday, November 28th, we will be asking for your support of our Financial Aid/Scholarship Fund at the Y. On GIVING TUESDAY, we ask that you donate to the Y’s Annual Support Campaign which provides aid and program support to make the Y programs more affordable for those in need.

  • Our men’s and women’s locker rooms will be reopened right around December 1st! New showers and lockers – along with a fresh coat of paint – have been long-awaited. Once you’ve seen them, tell a friend and invite them to become a member.

  • New partnerships with youth soccer and rowing clubs will be introduced next week.

With the turn of the year, we turn our eyes to the operations and the budget as well. We continue to strive for excellent value for your membership – our pricing for membership is most competitive for the number of offerings and the amount of people we serve. No new price increases are planned for January in our membership categories.

There will be some class consolidations so that we can more affordably and efficiently have the best instructor led programs for our youth, seniors, working adults and families. We are evaluating the program schedule for our Winter Session which begins in January. Sign-ups for the Winter Session will begin on December 18th. Hit the ground running, and water swimming, by signing up for youth sports and swim lessons!

Thanks to all our donors and members who continue to believe that having a local YMCA (for the past 118 years) builds a strong community. And whether you are from New Rochelle, Pelham, the Bronx, Mount Vernon, Larchmont or points beyond, we are thankful for you being part of the Y family.

Take good care,

Rich McCarty, CEO.
