Pool Update and More

Let me first say thank you to all our loyal and patient members!

As many of you are aware, our YMCA has undergone many changes to our physical plant in the last few years: the pool roof and air handling system; upgrades and repairs to our HVAC and air ventilating throughout the building; new cardio and strength equipment, and some improvements to our general look, layout and atmosphere.

Here are some updates:

1.       The POOL: The pool is open!

2.       The LOCKER ROOMS: We will be scheduling this work over the next few weeks beginning with the Women’s, and then moving on the Men’s, Locker Room. New lockers, shower fixtures and a fresh clean look with high quality painting will be some of the features. There will be a finite number of lockers available in each room for monthly rental. As I’ve indicated to all our male members, we will be eliminating the “executive room” once the new Men’s room is completed.

3.       The CYCLING STUDIO: Our cycling room has moved – it’s now in the room right off the gymnasium in the far right corner. It’s a very good space and the early reviews are all positive.

4.NEW PARTNERSHIPS:

a.       The Pelham Community Rowing Association will now use our YMCA as their winter training center, utilizing the far end room in the racquetball corridor. As we move forward, we will be putting together some rowing classes to complement our other fitness offerings.

b.       After School sites are in full swing at Webster School and here at the Y for our young friends from Jefferson School and other sites. Added this fall is our program at Barnard School. Some slots still available!

c.       Nationwide Membership – coming in November, your New Rochelle YMCA membership card will be honored (at no additional cost for basic usage) at over 90% of Y’s in the United States! More value for your membership!

5.       ANNUAL SUPPORT CAMPAIGN: Our consistent challenge at our Y, and throughout the country at other Y’s, is making sure that folks in our community who don’t have the financial means still get the opportunity to have a Y experience. So our Y raises money – not for the pool pump or new lockers – we raise the money for scholarships for kids and their families: Camp, After School, Memberships. Our goal is $60,000 this year – we are at $40,000 so far! Can you help? Visit us at: http://www.nrymca.org/donate

Thanks again for your loyalty and patience.
